ORIGIN OF PROGRAM
Since its inception, Raices Cultura has recruited Eastern Coachella Valley high school students to participate in various art-centered opportunities. In 2012, this group work formalized into an installation art program. Our student-driven program facilitates the conceptualization of a new large-scale artwork with the guidance of Raices mentors. These student groups gain hands-on experience in the development process for creative ideas, professional art proposals, art object fabrication, and on-site installation of the project as a unified artist team. The participants bond through a positive team dynamic while enhancing their creative and critical thinking skills through this fun and engaging intensive project. The art they create is seen by hundreds and even thousands of people - one of our most notable annual projects is for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival!
