OPEN STUDIO

Drop in during open hours and utilize any of our art supplies to express yourself! Meet new friends, watch art documentaries, work on a group activity, or doodle while you listen to music in the company of other creative folks. 

PROGRAM ORIGIN:

A hallmark of Raices Cultura’s origin is their open studio approach. Any youth could drop in and make art, any time that the office was open. This resulted in friends inviting friends and sisters and brothers bringing their siblings to express themselves in individual artworks and group projects. Over the years, these individuals have become involved year after year in big projects like the Coachella art installation and the Dia de Los Muertos celebration. Countless artworks have been made for various community gallery exhibits and budding performers have shared their talents at the monthly open mics. The Open Studio is a continuation of that approach - inviting youth in any day that the office is open to create with any supplies or equipment that we have to offer. Monthly advanced art workshops taught by local professional artists complement this program.
